Our History

The LFN or Library Foundation of Needham was founded in 2004 to be a permanent fundraising arm of the Needham Free Public Library.

It manages an endowment, raises contributions to that endowment, and reviews and makes grants to the library for programs and materials and facility improvements not covered in the library’s budget to enhance the Library’s service to the community. A library trustee sits on the LFN board to liaison between the Trustees and LFN.

Our Mission

Encourage community investment through individual and corporate giving for Library programs and services not covered by the town-funded budget.

Coordinate fundraising and promotional activities to increase the endowment and responsibly manage and grow the funds.

Grant funds to library departments based on their proposals for programs, materials, and facility enhancements.
